In 2023, K&L further broadened its horizons by welcoming Digital and PR Departments, and the sudden increase in staff expanded the company’s range of communication services. In the third installment of our employee spotlight series, we’re introducing Tatsuo Hamasaki, a Web Director from the Digital Solutions Division.
Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Tatsunari Hamasaki, and I work as a Web Director at K&L. My time at K&L so far has allowed me to be involved on a wide range of projects in various industries — spanning from financial and government-related work to events at commercial facilities. My role as a Web Director entails meeting clients' needs by using the web as a tool, planning the best course of action, and collaborating with the production team to create content that leads to effective solutions.
What’s been your most memorable project at K&L up till now?
One project that stands out is when we were approached by a client in the financial industry who wanted to boost stock trading participation among a younger demographic. While creating educational content about stock trading was our goal, we realized that traditional content wouldn't draw a young crowd in. That’s when we took inspiration from the popular "YouTube University" — which had set a trend among young people in Japan who are seeking free educational content on the site. We decided to create content structured like a university curriculum divided by grade levels, going the extra mile by incorporating original characters and quizzes to make the learning experience much more enjoyable. It was not only rewarding to see an increase in trading activity, but I also ended up gaining valuable knowledge on stocks myself (laughs).
In what part of your job do you find the most fulfillment?
I've always enjoyed spreading joy to others through my actions. It's one of the significant reasons why I chose this profession. Alongside creating impressive content, I find the most fulfillment in building a positive relationship with clients. Creating a website that contributes to the client's success, earning their trust, and continually improving the relationship is what motivates me. I aim to foster more of such positive cycles.
What do you think your strengths and some of K&L’s strengths are?
I believe my strength lies in my willingness to take on challenges without hesitation. Probably also my curious nature. I’m always excited to learn something new, and I think this adaptable attitude in my work has contributed to the development of the unique web content we've delivered. As for the strengths of K&L, I think it’s that there are professionals from different fields. We all respect each other's work, communicate thoroughly, and create content with care. With the change in the company’s structure, more work can be done internally, resulting in higher quality content.
And lastly, do you have any goals for the future?
Looking ahead, I want to continue honing my skills as a Web Director and devote more effort to mentoring younger colleagues as a manager. I believe that the best work environment is one where we approach our tasks with a positive mindset. In such a workplace, I hope to combine everyone's skills to produce the best possible output.
